Create a blog with WordPress
You will need
Paid
- Domain name
- Hosting
- WordPress
Free (These are not compulsory, but good to have)
- A logo (at least 1000px wide)
- A favicon sq. image (at least 250px X 250px)
- 5 blog posts pre-written with images
- About me or any pre-written
Step By Step Instruction
Step 1: Go to the official website of WordPress.
- Click on the “Get started” button
- Then create your account or log in with Google, or Apple.
- Choose a domain
- If you choose paid then it’s ok, otherwise, you don’t need to worry about it as of now
Here we are not choosing any plan for doing, so we just need to go to a new tab and open “wordpress.com”. Now you can see your site and plan are free (for demo).
Step 2: Give the name of your site and launch
Give your website title. Here you have to do 6 steps including the website name.
These are simple and straightforward steps:
- Give Website name
- Update your homepage
- Confirm Email ID
- Try the WordPress app
- Enable post sharing
- Launch your website
If you want a mobile app then you can enable this option, but as of now, we are skipping this option.
This is the last option here you have to purchase a domain name for hosting your website live.
Note: But if you want to launch the site, you have to pay.
Step 3: Create/ Update your website according to your need, and make some changes.
Now it’s time to design our website, for beginners will suggest going with themes because it is the perfect way to kick-start.
In the left section, you can find “Appearance” click on it, and it will show you some template designs.
Now according to your requirement or which themes suit your website purpose you can choose from here.
Here we are choosing the “Calvin” theme, press on “Active this design” and proceed.
Now it will ask whether you want to “switch theme, preserving homepage content” or “Replacing the homepage content with the theme content”.
As we don’t have any content, so will go with Calvin means the second option, then press “Active Calvin”.
After doing these, you can view your site and edit its content as well.
You are in edit mode, so by clicking the “+” icon you will find so many tools to design and to give more attractive to your website.
Here are some sample examples listed below:

- Text modification tools: Paragraph, Heading, List, Quote, Classic, code, Markdown, etc.
- Media tools: Image, gallery, cover, audio, files, video, stories, etc.
- Design: Button, column, group, stack, row etc.
- Widgets: Html, page list, archive, Rss, seach, latest comment etc.
- Theme: Navigation, site logo, site title etc.
- Embeds: Twitter, youtube, spotify, raddit etc.
- Crowed signal: Poll, vote, feedback etc.
- Earn: Donation form, open table, payment button etc.
- Grow: Mailchimp, Business hours, calendy, form etc.
